Horace Williams House
The Horace Williams House serves as a cultural center and headquarters of the Chapel Hill Preservation Society, which was founded in 1972 to protect the atmosphere of the town by preserving its natural and historical landmarks. Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower
Originally rung manually, the ten-bell carillon of the Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower now rings electronically to call students to class and to provide twilight music. Traditionally, the bells are rung to dispersing crowds after a football game.
Old Well
One of the university's few sources of water for more than a century and now the unofficial symbol of the university, the Old Well is a landmark on the university campus, standing at one end of the "Noble Grove."
Coker Arboretum
Created on the University of North Carolina campus in 1903, this five-acre garden offers more than 400 species of native and exotic plants for a delightful garden walk. Of special interest are the close Asian relatives of native southeastern trees and shrubs. The arboretum features a fanciful, 200-foot wisteria-laden arbor which, when in season, is a sight to behold.
North Carolina Botanical Garden
The largest natural garden in the southeast, the North Carolina Botanical Garden offers 600 acres of nature trails, a collection of carnivorous plants, aquatics, and herbs. The botanical garden is a center for research, conservation, and interpretation of plants, with special emphasis on plants native to the southeastern United States and horticultural plants having traditional uses or of special botanical interest. www.unc.edu
Wilson Library's NC Collection Gallery
On the 2nd floor of the Wilson Library, you'll find the NC Collection Gallery, a series of rooms recreated to illustrate the lives of important people and places in North Carolina history. Morehead Planetarium and Science Center
One of Chapel Hill's star attractions, Morehead Planetarium features shows for all ages in its multimedia, domed Star Theater, including Ski Safari, Solar System Adventure, and the live show, Carolina Skies, which guides the audience across Carolina's night skies. Forest Theater
